Why EVMs cant be hacked

MAY 13, 2017

As now many political parties are claiming about EVM hack this is necessary to know how these machines handled by  Election commission of india.

The EC is using latest technology to further strengthen the security process.

How safe is an EVM? Election Commission's 10-step process to secure voting machines
The growing crescendo of protest by a few opposition parties against the electronic voting machines (EVMs) might raise doubts in your mind about the safety of the machines. However, robust security measures by the Election Commission (EC) rule out the possibility of any foul play.
From the physical examination of EVMs at the initial stage to the final vote count, EC's 10-step security process leaves no room for any mischief.

Below is the detail of these 10 steps that ensure EVMs are mischief-proof:

1) The security process by the Election Commission begins with what it calls the first-level checking (FLC). Engineers from Bharat Electronics Ltd and Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (the companies that supply EVMs) certify the originality of components after technical and physical examination of each

EVM . This task is completed in front of the representatives of various political parties.

2) After careful examination, defective EVMs are sent back to the factory.

3) The FLC hall is fully sanitized to ensure that it is free of any other electronic device or components of electronic devices. Entry to the hall is restricted and guarded by police force. Nobody can carry a camera, mobile phone or spy device inside the hall.
4) The EC conducts a mock poll of at least 1,000 votes on 10 per cent of randomly selected EVMs by representatives of candidates. The results are shown to them. The Election Commission also videographs the entire process.

5) EVMs are randomized twice while being allocated to an Assembly and then to a polling booth, ruling out any fixed allocation.

6) Once upon reaching the polling booth, one more mock poll is conducted in front of polling agents just before the polling starts for the day.

7) After completion of the poll, EVMs are sealed. Polling agents put their signatures on the seal.

8) The EVMs are then transported to a secure storage centre called strong room. These strong rooms are guarded 24x7 with several layers of security. Polling agents can go up to the strong room during transportation of EVMs.

9) Candidates can put their own seals on the strong rooms where polled EVMs are stored after the poll. The EC also allows representatives to camp in front of strong rooms.

10) At the final stage, the EVMs are brought to the counting centres and unique IDs of the seals and control unit are shown to representatives of candidates before the counting begins. The counting staff and counting agents take note of the votes cast for each candidate in serial number.

By reading above points if one is still hacks a EVM than its not a bad news  because only one EVM cant sun a state or an whole area.  A party needs thousands of professionals to hack a huge amount of machines. That is still not less than impossible.
As AAP is blaming EVM it should self revise the  future strategy .

So it is impossible to hack all the EVM at same time in so much large numbers. Only politics is happening in AAP .

An Indian Police Officer’s Open Letter To Those Who Opposed Yakub Memon’s Execution

                      [ admin: dinesh ]

The execution of the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts
convict, Yakub Memon, has led to myriad opinions
coming out from all quarters. Numerous questions
are being raised, ranging from the timing of the
hanging to the relevance of capital punishment in a
democracy.

An open letter by an anonymous police officer to the
all those who are opposing Yakub Memon's
execution. He signs off as thulla .
Dear "Intelligentsia" of India,
I am not a TV panelist. I am not a “human rights”
activist. I am not a lawyer. I am not a political
commentator. I am not a best-selling author. I am
not the son or grandson of a famous man. I am an
aam aadmi. More than an aam aadmi, I am an officer
in the Indian Police force. And I am writing this letter
to all of you, after seeing your robust defence of a terrorist.

Why I mention who I am is important because unlike
all of you, I don’t sit in plush AC offices and write
editorials seeking clemency for a murderer. Nor do I
visit TV studios and shout myself hoarse. Instead I
meet such killers every single day. But I don’t meet
them for cocktail parties or at press conferences (like
some of you do).

I meet them on the road, in the streets, with weapons
in their arms and hate in their eyes. I have been in
situations with them where they would not hesitate a
single moment before pulling the trigger on me, but I
have to consider all the ramifications like "human
rights", "due process" and "fake encounter" before I
save my life and of the innocent people around me.
Given the above I believe I am in a far better position
to comment on a mass murderer like Yakub Memon
than any of you are.

To defend this criminal, multitudes of arguments have
been put forth by what are now called "Adarsh
Liberals" in our society. Luckily, almost no one has
pleaded that he is innocent. The situation is such
that Indians have to be grateful to our "Intelligentsia"
for such small mercies.

But one common hypothesis put forward by many is
that Yakub Memon surrendered to the Indian
authorities, and then cooperated with the
investigations. Plain lies. Late B Raman, one of
India’s finest intelligence officers wrote this in his
article:

He had come to Kathmandu secretly from Karachi to
consult a relative and a lawyer on the advisability of
some members of the Memon family, including
himself, who felt uncomfortable with Pakistan's Inter-
Services Intelligence, returning to India and
surrendering to the Mumbai police. The relative and
the lawyer advised him against surrender due to a
fear that justice might not be done to them. They
advised Yakub to go back to Karachi.
Before he could board the flight to Karachi, he was
picked up by the Nepal police on suspicion,
identified and rapidly moved to India. This was
yesterday confirmed on some news channels when
they interviewed the Nepali police officer. He re- iterated that there was no deal and Yakub was fleeing
to Karachi. Then why are our "Intelligentsia" hell bent
on stating otherwise?

was being kept | Source: PTI
Let me put it another way: I know there is a rat in
my house, and I place a laddoo in a trap. The rat gets caught and then pleads for mercy saying that he
had come to “surrender” because I had offered him a
"laddoo" (deal). Do I let him live?
The second common argument is "but we are against
death penalty. It is barbaric". My simple question is
Did it take the death sentence of a terrorist to wake
up the bleeding heart activists? Couldn’t you demand
a change in law for so many years? Why are you
crying for this beast?

For the record even I am not decided on this issue.
Just because we are from the police force doesn't
mean we do not value human life. But in the case of
a terrorist, what choice do we have? Do we preserve
him hoping he will reform? Can terrorists who come
with guns in their hands and an unshakable belief
that what they are doing (killing innocent people) is
right, be ever reformed?
Forget reformation, keeping such a dastardly mind
alive is a big security risk too. Every time he is
shifted from jails we have to be our toes to see if
any attempt will be made by his gang members to
either kill him, so that he is silenced or rescue him,
so that he can continue his activities. And there is
always the risk that one fine day his friends will hold
some innocent civilians hostage and demand his
release, so that we can put our lives at risk all over
again to re-capture him.
You want to abolish death penalty? Go ahead, but
not for terrorists.

Why yakub Memon should not be hanged !!!!!

                         [Admin:Dinesh]

The sentence

1993 Mumbai blast convict Yakub
Memon is likely to be hanged on 30
July. The Supreme Court dismissed his
last legal appeal

The blasts killed 257 and injured 713.
100 other people were convicted, but
Memon is the only one to be given the
death penalty

The conspiracy
The blast conspiracy was hatched after
the 1992 Mumbai riots. ISI called a
meeting of dons like Dawood Ibrahim,
Mohammad Dosa, Tiger Memon and
Tahir Merchant
Yakub Memon claims he wasn't present
in any of the meetings

*******************

The return

Yakub also claims he returned to clear
his name and for the sake of his family
But CBI arrested him and charged him
as the prime accused in the blast case
Tiger Memon warned his brother against
returning. But Yakub claimed he had full
faith in India and its judiciary.

In 1999, Yakub had written a letter the
Chief Justice of India in which he called
himself "a good citizen of the country"
When his death sentence was
announced, Yakub broke down and
reportedly told the judge, "Even the
innocent will be made into terrorists".
Special TADA judge Pramod Kode, who
sentenced Yakub to death, described
him as a "very educated man". Yakub
apparently cried out in court seeking
the "Lord's forgiveness" for Kode
because he "did not know what he had
done".

Yakub Memon will turn 53 on 30 July.
He is also likely to be hanged on the
same day at 7 am in Nagpur Central
Jail, after spending 20 years in jail.
On 21 July, the Supreme Court dismissed
his last legal attempt to absolve himself in
the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case.
Yakub was convicted under the Terrorist
and Disruptive Activities (TADA) Act in
2007 for his alleged role in the serial blasts
that killed 257 people, injured 713 and
destroyed property worth Rs 27 crore.
Whether capital punishment itself is
justified or not is a separate matter. The
moot issue here is whether Yakub Memon
deserved a death sentence. He was
convicted along with 100 other people in a
10,000 page chargesheet. But he was the
only one to be condemned to death. Why?

***************

Background
On 12 March 1993, Mumbai was shattered
by ten consecutive bomb blasts, the first
one being at 1.28 pm. This attack was
supposedly a consequence of the 1992
Bombay riots in which mobs led by the Shiv
Sena went on a rampage, strategically
killing Muslims, with the police acting as
their accomplice.
One of the victims of the riots was Tiger
Memon, a smuggler of growing influence
who had started trading with clients from
the Gulf. His office was allegedly burnt by
angry mobs during the riots.
There was widespread anger and despair
following the riots. Ever ready to fish in
troubled waters, Pakistan's Inter Services
Intelligence (ISI) smelled an opportunity.
This is how the plan for the Mumbai blasts
was hatched. ISI called a meeting of
Dawood Ibrahim (who was residing in Dubai
then), Mohammad Dosa, Tiger Memon,
Tahir Merchant and various other Indian
Muslim dons based in Europe and the Gulf.

The conspiracy
After several meetings, the responsibility of
the attack was given to Tiger Memon and
Mohammad Dosa, while Dawood agreed to
provide logistical support.

Tiger Memon selected a few youths, who
were then sent to Pakistan for training by
the ISI. A number of meetings were
subsequently held at Hotel Persian Darbar
in Panvel on 6 January, 10 February and 1
March, to discuss various aspects of the
plan - from how the bombs would land to
the bribing of customs officials. There was
a meeting at Taj Mahal Hotel on 4 March
for making final preparations.
According to the prosecution itself, Yakub
Memon, Tiger's brother, was not present in
any of these crucial meetings.

*************
Who is Yakub Memon?

Yakub, the third of six children, was born in
Mumbai and completed his bachelor's in
1983 and master's in commerce in 1985. In
1986, he enrolled as a student with the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
After completing one of the toughest
courses in India, he became a chartered
accountant and started a firm called Mehta
and Memon associates, along with his
school friend Chaitanya Mehta.
In July 1999, having spent several years in
custody, Yakub wrote a letter to the Chief
Justice of India, trying to explain his
predicament and seeking relief from
"unbearable punishment".
He told the judge he and his friend "were
doing very well". They were handling sales
tax and income tax accounts of around 200
files. He gave these details, he said, to
drive home the point that he was busy with
his life and had no time to plot an
international conspiracy.
Even during his two decade long stint in
jail, he completed two masters degrees
from an open university - one in English
literature and the other in political science.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
alleges that Yakub managed Rs 21.90 lakhs
for the operation, arranged air tickets and
boarding for 15 people to be sent to
Pakistan for training, purchased vehicles to
be planted as bombs and requested a
person who is now a discharged co-
accused, to store boxes of ammunition
smuggled into India by Tiger Memon.
He was convicted based on the confession
of around six people - Asgar Yusuf
Mukadam, Ismail Turk, Musa Biyariwala,
Mustaq Sayed and Mulchand Shah.
Later, apart from Shah, everyone withdrew
their statements.

The chargesheet named 189 people, 44 of
them were absconding while the other 145
people had 'confessed' to the police. There
have been allegations of the police eliciting
confessions through brutality, during the
Mumbai blast investigations.
Yakub Memon's conviction
was based on the confession
of six people, five of whom
later withdrew their statements
The controversial movie Black Friday,
based on the book of the same name by S
Hussain Zaidi, documents the open secret
of police torture during investigations in a
vivid way. The movie's release was stalled
for many years by the court.

Memon's return
According to official records, CBI arrested
Yakub Memon at the New Delhi Railway
Station on 5 August,1994. The agency says
that it acted on a tip off that a terrorist has
sneaked into Delhi and would be coming to
a railway station.

The other story goes that he was arrested
at Kathmandu airport, while trying to go to
Karachi. He was carrying multiple passports
and had just met his lawyer regarding a
possible surrender to the CBI.
Yakub consistently claims that he
surrendered voluntarily before the CBI on
28 July 1994.
"I gathered my strength and returned to
India on 28 July 1994. The same day I
surrendered to the authorities," said Yakub.
The court judgment took no cognisance of
Yakub' statement but was extremely critical
of the CBI arrest story.
Film star Sanjay Dutt, presently serving a
jail term for keeping the ammunition used
during the blast, was also arrested after he
was lured back from Mauritius and
promised protection. However, around 100
cops greeted him at the Mumbai airport.
In his book, Zaidi observed that Yakub
wanted to return in order to clear his
name. He was also concerned about the
failing health of his parents and the
impending birth of his child.
Perhaps he thought it was better to strike a
deal with the Indian government rather than
stay under Pakistan's watch.

The result

In his letter to the Chief Justice in 1999,
Yakub had stated that "it was a difficult
and risky adventure" for him to return with
a suitcase full of evidence against
gangsters in Pakistan. He called himself a
"good citizen of this country" who had tried
to help the government in "whatever small
manner he could". His "humble effort and
sacrifice", he said, would be known after
the Bombay blasts case came to its
"logical end".
Yakub apparently cried out in
court for god to forgive Judge
Kode "as he knew not what he
had done"
He also stated that in his lifetime he had
never been to New Delhi railway station. He
denied his role and claimed that all those
who interrogated him know the truth.
According to him, his only fault was that he
was Tiger Memon's brother. "The more I
think, the more I get disturbed," Yakub
wrote to the judge, "after all, why am I
made to suffer? Only for the sole reason
that the prime accused is in relation to
me?"
Yakub also took a dig at the prosecution
and said that their case was built on the
following narrative: "Muslim Memon family
exploded bombs in Mumbai and then fled to
Pakistan. Later, with great efforts, the
'prime accused' was arrested".
In his letter he also wrote that he had great
faith in his country and its judiciary. It was
because of Yakub's statements that it
became easy for investigative agencies to
point towards Pakistan's involvement.
According to Yakub, his brother Tiger
Memon had warned him against returning
to India. "Tum Gandhiwadi ban ke ja rahe
ho, lekin wahan atankwadi qarar diye jaoge
(You want to become a Gandhian but they
will brand you a terrorist) ," he had said.
Ironically, it seems Tiger Memon, the main
conspirator behind the Mumbai blasts, has
been vindicated.
When Special TADA judge Pramod
Dattaraya Kode had pronounced the death
sentence, Yakub had apparently cried out in
court for god to forgive Kode "as he knew
not what he had done."

On 30 July, when Yakub is hung to death
on a conviction reportedly based primarily
on confessions extracted in police custody,
he will leave behind many uncomfortable
questions.

Chanakya Niti

Contents Managed By: Dinesh

This article revolves around the concept of
self improvement and the inspiration was
obtained from a Chanakya Sutra that says
“विज्ञानेनात्मानं सम्पादयेत | ” which
means “Make yourself eligible with the help
of knowledge (विज्ञानं = science). ”
Call it knowledge, information ,
intelligence, or wisdom; they all are the
sides of same polygon. We use different
terms as per our convenience, but at the
end they all solve the same purpose.

In this article we will be
discussing
the
significance
of knowledge
and a few
related
aspects.
Have a
look…

Competitive Advantage:
When it comes about any sort of
competition the person with better
knowledge/information/understanding is
most likely to win. Be it a game , war, or
anything else. One who is well aware about
his qualities and qualities of his opponent
will win for sure.
For Your Own Benefit:
Knowledge not only fetches you the
competitive advantage, but also helps in
other productive ways. The availability of
right information at right time is of great
use. A man equipped with power of
knowledge grows his influence, power, and
wealth with passage of every minute.
* A man with knowledge creates
opportunities for himself, even when they
are not present. While others keep waiting
for right opportunity to arrive.
* An intelligent being is not only capable of
helping himself, but others as well. Thus,
acquisition of knowledge aids in creating
new bonds and friendships. This is how the
knowledge adds to man’s influence and
strength.
* Another interesting observation is that
irrespective of the industry, the man who
perform mental labor are paid significantly
higher than men who do the physical labor .
What it takes to gain knowledge?
The list includes, but is not restricted to
following three.
Desire to learn
Existence of a purpose
Determination
The determination and desire to learn
guided by a noble purpose are definitely the
right ingredients for the recipe. It’s said
that the true education is one that solves a
purpose. Therefore before learning
something a man must ensure that there
exists a valid purpose. Usability is key term.
If not at present then at least the knowledge
being acquired must be of some use in near
future.
An ordinary guy reads, while the wise one
understands. The difference  might not
become obvious until results are obtained.
This is true for both academic as well as
non academic learning.
Involve the Experiences in
the Learning Process:
Experience is a highly valued entity. The
things that we learn through experience are
usually not mentioned in the books. If you
don’t have the required level of experience
then consult someone who has.
A nice thing that you can do is to consult
some trustworthy experienced person.
Efforts will be required, to extract reality.
People don’t give away their secrets so
easily. Along with efforts, you will also need
appropriate gifts and rewards in order to
speed up the process.
Great leaders at present and throughout
history maintained a council of wise men.
Why? Because a man alone cannot
perform all of the hard work required to
reach the heights of greatness. Instead he
seeks advice from men who have already
spent a lot of time in the field.
***
The conclusion is that a man must
understand the importance of knowledge,
more importantly he must acquire it to
solve intended . You acquire the
stuff only after becoming eligible for it and
the right knowledge helps you to acquire the
eligibility .
